Charles “Lucky” Luciano was born on November 24 1897, and he died on January 26 1962. He is considered the father of modern organized crime in the us. As a child he earned money by protecting jewish kids from gangs for ten cents a week.He earned his nickname Lucky by surviving a savage beating and getting his throat slit. He was arrested 25 times and has never been to jail.
